Why the helper is inside, and the door stays open

Pilotie is a hybrid: a built-in helper for people new to AI, and an open MCP door for people who have one. Why we built both.

Many workspaces expect you to bring your own AI, connect it through MCP, and let it work inside your apps. That suits people who already use Claude, ChatGPT or Grok. It does not suit a friend who has never used one and does not want to learn.

So we made a second door#

Pilotie is a workspace with the helper built in. It uses the same tools as an outside AI, through the same door, with the same permissions, the same plan limits and the same history. We did not build anything twice: one tool surface, two callers.

And left the first door open#

Pilotie did not close the MCP door. If you have an AI you like, copy the address from the page Use your own AI too and add it as a connector in Claude, ChatGPT or Grok. Both work at the same time, and the history shows who did what.

When you want both#

Use the helper for the daily things: a task, a reminder, a quote draft, in your language, fast and cheap. Use your own AI for a big piece of writing in the voice you trained it on. They share one memory in the workspace and one set of rules.

A small example#

A shop owner tells the helper to remind her to call the supplier on Thursday. Later her own AI, connected through the open door, reads that same reminder and adds a quote draft next to it. Both show up in the history, each under its own name.

What it costs#

Pilotie is €29 a month, with the helper and 600 credits a month included.

What is not decided#

We are looking at open-weight models for the simplest jobs, to keep costs down. Nothing is decided and nothing is promised.

Why not only one door#

Because people are different. A shop owner with no time for settings wants a button. A developer wants to choose the model. Both are right, and a workspace that only suits one of them leaves the other outside.
